Chevy Chase Fourth of July

Wondering what to do this Fourth of July? Chevy Chase has a ton of things happening around town.

Independence Day Parade

Chevy Chase Elementary school will be the starting point for the Independence Day parade.  Uncle Sam on stilts will be leading the parade at 12 p.m. Get to the school by 11:30 so the kids can decorate their bikes, scooters or wagons.

After the parade, head over to the Fourth of July picnic catered by Red Hot & Blue and Ben & Jerry’s. Vegetarian options are available by request.

Street Life will be playing from 12:30 to 2.  Make sure to bring a blanket and a water bottle, though sodas will be provided. There will be plenty of games and fun.

Don’t forget to bring donations for the Manna Food Summer Smart Snack Program. Accepted items include things like small packets of oatmeal, peanut butter and granola bars.

Chevy Chase Fireworks

Albert Einstein High School will be holding a fireworks display at 9:15. Get there for 7:30 to see a concert by  Bobby and the Believers. There won’t be any parking at the high school. Instead, shuttles will be available at Westfield Wheaton and Wheaton Metro Station.

More Chevy Chase 4th of July Festivities

Chevy Chase Section 5 will have its own parade at 11 a.m. starting at 3807 Williams Lane and ending at Thornapple Place. There will be patriotic songs and a party at the end.  Bring the kids to see ponies and enjoy a slip and slide.

The Village of North Chevy Chase will also be holding a Fourth of July celebration catered by Famous Daves. Residents can bring sides and desserts. Beverages will cost $1.
