Chevy Chase Volunteer Opportunities

Want a unique way to spend your free time? Looking for a chance to give back to the community? Volunteering is a great way to do both. Here are a few opportunities in and around the Chevy Chase area for varying ages and interests.

If you love spending time with animals, you may want to volunteer for Alley Cat Allies. Located in Bethesda, just ten minutes away, this organization is committed to the well-being of cats, both feral and domestic.  Alley Cat Allies promotes anti-crueltytoward all animals and supports the Trap-Neuter-Return method, which humanely sterilizes feral cats. Some volunteer duties involve fostering cats and kittens, assisting with office work and taking care of the office cats on weekends and holidays.  Be sure to sign up if you would like to get involved.

The Chevy Chase Friends of the Library Chapter is always on the look out for some extra help. Volunteers can assist with the book sale area, where proceeds from used books and movies go toward the Friends of the Library programs.  Contact the Chevy Chase Chapter for more information.

The Audubon Naturalist Society’s headquarters on Jones Mill Road has great opportunities for outdoor lovers, ages fourteen and up. Volunteers can help preserve the Woodend Sanctuary by maintaining the grounds and trails. Those who know a little about the organization may want to volunteer at outreach information fairs, to raise awareness about the organization’s efforts.  Find out more if either of these programs are of interest.
