The Presidential Debates: What You Need to Know

Only 32 more days until Election Day 2012. If you’re not sure who you’re planning to vote for, now is the time to read up on the candidate’s platforms. If you missed Wednesday night’s Presidential debate, you’ve still got a chance to see three more.  Check out the schedule below to find out the date and time of the upcoming debates, and find out about fun debate-themed events happening near Chevy Chase.

What Channels Will Show the Debates?

You won’t have to search very hard to find them on television. The following major broadcast and cable news stations will air the debates: ABC, CBS, CNN, C-SPAN, FOX, FOX News, NBC, MSNBC and PBS.

You can also watch the debates on your computer through live streaming. The first debate was streamed on Yahoo, AOL, Google, Huff Post Live, USTREAM and Youtube.

When are the Next Presidential Debates?

• The Vice Presidential Debates take place on October 11 from 9 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

• A town meeting style Presidential Debate starts on October 16 from 9 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

• The final Presidential Debate discussing foreign policy will take place on October 22 from 9 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

Presidential Debate-Watching Events Near Chevy Chase, MD

Enjoy the debates in a livelier setting than your living room couch. Several bars and restaurants close to many Chevy Chase neighborhoods will show the debates and offer specials in the spirit of the upcoming election.

The Federalist, about a fifteen minute drive from Somerset, will be screening the debates and serving election-themed specialty drinks.

Lou’s City Bar located about fifteen minutes from Friendship Heights will have debate-watching parties as well as discounted drink specials.

Mason Inn in Georgetown, only fifteen minutes from Martins Addition, will offer laid-back debate viewing during the night of the debate.

Ventnor Sports Café in Adams Morgan, just ten minutes from Chevy Chase Village, will be showing the debates from their 25 TVs and plan to offer drink specials and games.
