Discover the Strathmore in Bethesda!

Strathmore DC AreaBuilt in 1899, the Mansion at Strathmore has evolved from a private estate to a treasure for the arts in the DC area. Situated on 11 scenic acres, and located close to the Capital Beltway in Bethesda, the Mansion provides a haven for live performances in the intimate, 100-seat music room.

An additional concert hall, The Music Center at  Strathmore, opened in 2005 with 1,976 seats. There are over 150 performances a year, and more than 75 arts and education classes each week.

Several artistic organizations are in residency at Strathmore, including the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, the National Philharmonic, the Washington Performing Arts Society, and the  Levine School of Music. There are also regular performances by the CityDance Ensemble and the Maryland Classic Youth Orchestras.

Strathmore is more than chamber music, however! Concerts in the Music Center include performances by major artists of folk, rock, blues, pop, R&B, jazz, world music, and show tunes. If you are looking for more, read on about Strathmore’s Friday Night Eclectic Series!

Local DC Talent Headlines Friday Night Eclectic Series at Strathmore

On Friday, February 8, DC singer-songwriter Stone Kawala will perform at Strathmore. A founding member of The Trees, Kawala made a name for himself in progressive hip-hop before showing an acoustic, folk side in his acclaimed 2011 solo debut. As a solo artist with an uncommon musical range, Kawala has performed live on SiriusXM Satellite Radio. He is a frequent panelist on The Ripped Radio Network, and has helped organize several concerts for disabled veterans in DC. He has performed as an opening act for music legends George Thorogood and Warren Haynes.

Kawala will share the stage with host Martin Amini of Silver City Productions. Amini is a DC area comedian who has a wide repertoire. He will  headline a performance of poetry, spoken word and hip-hop with guests Philadelphia Slick, the Soho Kings with poet-singer Mihenta, poet Drew Law, and D.C. singer-songwriter Kara Falck.

Strathmore’s Friday Night Eclectic series continues on the following dates: February 15 and 22; March 1, 8  and 22;  April 5 and 26. For ticket information and more details visit the Strathmore’s website.
