Youth Sports Programs Abound in Bethesda!

bethesda youth sportsWarm weather is coming, and spring sports activities are not far behind! If you have been searching for a team sports program for the kids to enjoy, there are several acclaimed groups to choose from in Bethesda! Here is partial list of youth sports organizations in the area!

Bethesda-Chevy Chase Baseball

BCC Baseball provides sports participation for all levels of players. The recreational league includes 3000 classmates and friends, along with  parent volunteers who manage and coach the teams. There are also highly competitive travel teams.

Players are encouraged to reach their highest goals, be it high school, college or professional level baseball. BCC Baseball is a non-profit organization, with all fees supporting the program and community. The league adopts and maintains 22 fields in Montgomery County, and provides scholarships for players who otherwise would be unable to participate.

Spring registration has passed, but there are a few spots left in some age groups.  Please call 301-229-2724 to check on availability!   

Bethesda Soccer Club

The Bethesda Soccer Club is a non-profit corporation that promotes the game of soccer by providing opportunities for youth participation. The Bethesda Soccer Club has approximately 60 boys and girls teams from ages U-8 through U-19 that compete in various leagues in Maryland and Region I. The Club is recognized for competitive success and counts professional players among its alumni.

You can introduce your child to soccer during the Spring Soccer Clinic for ages 3 to 6. Participants will be given a mini soccer ball and will learn the basics of in dribbling, passing, and shooting during fun, age-appropriate practices.  Registration is underway now, with the first session scheduled April 7.

Maplewood Football – Alta Vista Park

Registration for the 2013 season begins April 1. The Maplewood Athletic Association is a volunteer, nonprofit youth tackle football organization based in Bethesda. Maplewood has been serving the youth of Bethesda for 52 years, and is part of the Mid-Maryland Youth Football & Cheer League.

The Maplewood Athletic Association is completely staffed by volunteers providing capable leadership and positive adult mentors to any child who wants to learn the game of football. Volunteer coaches teach the fundamentals of football to players between the ages of 6 and 14. There is an emphasis on teamwork, pride, sportsmanship and competition.

Koa Multisport Camps

Koa’s Multisport Camp allows children in grades K through 5 to explore different sports and activities for a summer of fun! The camp provides a safe and friendly environment with experienced coaches and counselors. Seven one-week sessions run throughout the summer from June 24 through August 9.

Campers get the opportunity to play baseball, softball, basketball, flag football, soccer, hoops, field hockey and more. Spirited competition is kept friendly and fun. Other activities include relay races, tug-of war, and camper-vs.-coach contests. Registration is open now!
