Adirondack Chair Season in Chevy Chase

chairs2 (Copy)It may be named after the mountains in upstate New York, but the Adirondack chair has always been the unofficial summer chair of Chevy Chase. Anyone who has walked up the 9th fairway at the Chevy Chase Club will remember the row of white chairs sitting beyond the green, in front of the clubhouse. There is something solid about this design that lends itself to both contemplation and conversation on summer evenings. And the broad armrests make convenient beverage holders.

That’s a row of the customary white models above, on a lawn on Cedar Parkway in Chevy Chase Village, attended by a couple of raised citronella candles to keep the bugs at bay.  The chair comes in sporty red as well. The house below is on Park Street.
