A view of the Cheasapeake and Ohio Canal (C and O Canal) in Georgetown. The canal is 184.5 miles long and reaches as far a Western Maryland. The canal helped communities along the Potomac River flourish by increasing the flow of traffic, people and commerce, in the 19th and early 20th century.
