Four Insanely Romantic Spots in DC Metro

Washington, DC may be our nation’s capital, but that also makes it the center of majestic landmarks, manicured gardens, and some of the hottest restaurants and bars in the country. All of that is the perfect equation for romance. The Estridge Group thought that, with Valentine’s Day around the corner, why not rekindle our romance with the DC Metro area by recounting some of our favorite romantic spots in Washington, DC and its surrounding neighborhoods.

King Street in Alexandria

Romantic views of the Potomac, quaint boutiques, a cozy limited-seating restaurant — it’s no wonder that cobblestone-lined King Street in Alexandria was voted “Best Place for a First Date” by Washingtonian Magazine. If you want to make things a little more interesting, make it a romantic bike ride or hop on the King Street Trolley.

Dumbarton Oaks in Georgetown

Take a trip to historic Georgetown to discover the garden and adjoining manor that goes by the name of Dumbarton Oaks. This place was designed with romance in mind. Scenic terraces, rows of trees, and carved stone benches, built for two. Bonus: Admission during winter is free so if you don’t mind bundling up and cozying up to your date, it could be the perfect stop to visit after Valentine’s dinner.

Meridian Hill Park in Adams Morgan

Meridian Hill Park in Columbia Heights is home to the longest cascading fountain in North America. And what is more romantic than a fountain wish? This is ideal for the couple who loves dogs because they are everywhere. Start at the Potter House in Adams Morgan for a latte and an egg sammie to-go. Then take it with you through the patterned-concrete walkways and down the dramatic stairways.

Blagden Alley

When a place is lovingly referred to as “Engagement Alley,” you know it’s got all of the romantic elements you’re looking for. This place is all about finding your perfect spot for good conversation (and maybe a stiff drink). There are many restaurants to choose from —  high-end cocktails at the Columbia Room, mid-Atlantic cuisine at The Dabney, modern Hong Kong fare at Tiger Fork, and more. Each has its own unique style, and you’ll find the one that is suited to you and your love. Might we suggest kicking things off at the Columbia Room for The Getaway with a side of truffle popcorn and see where things go from there…
