Just because summer officially ends this week doesn’t mean there’s a shortage of fun things to do around Chevy Chase. Check out some great activities going on before the end of the month.
Starting this Saturday, Family Fun Day will be held at the Chevy Chase Library from 10 until 3. Keep the kids happy with crafts, balloon animals and face painting. There’s gardening advice for adults as well as a movie presented by the Chevy Chase Historical Society. In addition, the Chevy Chase Woman’s Club will be holding a community yard sale on the same day. This all day event takes place from 9 to 5 at the clubhouse on Connecticut Avenue. The majority of proceeds will go to charity. In addition, food and home goods will be made available at the neighboring bazaar.
Next Monday, September 26, the Bethesda – Chevy Chase Chamber of Commerce will hold an interest session for a trip to China. This amazing opportunity will be held from 5:30 to 7 at the Chamber Offices in the Eagle Bank Board Room. The trip will take place next year from April 1 to April 9. The trip includes visiting Beijing, Shanghai, Suzhou and Hangzhou. Sights include Tian An Men Square, the Temple of Heaven and the Great Wall of China. It costs $2,099 a person. A passport, visa and Chinese tourist visa are required. Don’t forget, you must RSVP if you’d like to find out more.
Finally, the 35th Anniversary Reading Series begins Friday, September 30 at the Writer’s Center on Walsh Street. Listen to Robert Baush, well-known for his writing workshops, and Allison Leotta, author of Law of Attraction from 7:30 to 9. Tickets are on sale now.
