Autumn Days in Chevy Chase

Autumn LeavesNow that fall is here, it’s a great time to get outdoors and take in the cool autumn weather. Of course, the temperature isn’t the only thing that’s dropping. If you’ve already started raking up the fall foliage, be on the lookout for leaf pick-ups. Leaf trucks will be coming through Chevy Chase neighborhoods on a weekly basis to collect curb-side leaves. They will be vacuuming leaves all throughout the month until the middle of December. Make sure you don’t rake your leaves into the street, and try to remove any litter, such as rocks, sticks or debris, from the leaf piles. The five day pick up schedule  is listed by street below:

Monday: Connecticut Avenue (south of Thornapple Street, north of Bradley Street), Meadow Lane (south of Thornapple), Woodside Place, Hillcrest Place, Sycamore, Beechwood Drive, Rosemary Street, and Bradley Street (east of Maple Avenue).

Tuesday: Connecticut Avenue (south of Leland Street, north of Thornapple), Woodbine Street, Virgilia Street, Underwood Street, Thornapple Street (east of Maple Avenue), Meadow Lane (north of Thornapple), Oak Lane, Ridgewood Avenue (north of Thornapple)

Wednesday: Connecticut Avenue (north of Leland), Leland Street (east of Maple), Chatham Road, Aspen Street, Blackthorn Street

Thursday: Maple Avenue, Rosemary Street (west of Maple), Stanford Street (east of East Avenue, west of Maple), Thornapple (west of Maple), Curtis, Oakridge Lane, Maple Terrace, Lynn Drive

Friday: East Avenue (north of Bradley), Bradley Lane (west of Maple), West Avenue, Ridge Street, Stanford Street, Walsh Street, Leland Street (west of Oakridge), Willow Lane, Elm Street, 44th Street, 45th Street, 46th Street.

Don’t forget to set your clocks back one hour this Saturday night. Sunday, November 6, is the end of Daylight Savings Time.
