Spring Events Around Chevy Chase

Now that spring is in full force, it’s time to get out and about.  Starting next week and through the beginning of June, there are plenty of things to do near Chevy Chase. Be sure to check out these springtime events!

Stay Active

DC Yoga Week begins May 13 through May 20.  Bethesda’s Simon Says Yoga, about ten minutes from Friendship Heights, will be participating in the event by offering free and $5 yoga classes. Yoga on the Mall will also take place May 19 from 1:30-4:30 p.m.

Events for the Family

The Strut Your Mutt  Dog Parade and Festival starts May 19 at the Woodmont Triangle Area at Norfolk and Woodmont Avenue in downtown Bethesda. There will be activities for kids, adults and of course, dogs. Be sure to check out the dog parades, dog contests, and a dog adoption show. If you want to register your dog for the event, be sure to do so by May 18. The registration fee costs $25.

The 17th annual Imagination Bethesda children’s street festival takes place June 2 on Auburn and Norfolk Avenue. This free event features a wide array of activities that include arts and crafts, language learning, face painting and live entertainment.

Arts and Entertainment

Less than ten minutes from Chevy Chase Village, Bethesda’s Bella Italia on Hampden Lane will be showing the film Cinema Paradiso. The movie starts at 1 p.m. on May 23. There will be popcorn and Pellegrino.

The Bethesda Artist Market will feature the work of 25 local artists, who will have their creations up for sale. Browse through paintings, jewelry, photography, pottery and more. Starting June 9, the event will be held on Norfolk Avenue from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
