Find the Luxury Home of Your Dreams in the DC Metro Area!

The search for a luxury home is different from your ordinary home search. Due to the tighter privacy restrictions most luxury home sellers have, you need to ensure that you work with the right professional who can help guide you through the process. It’s unwise to consider searching for a luxury home on your own. A real estate agent will have the inside knowledge of the properties available on the market and can help you find the one that will best fit the needs of your family.

As a Montgomery County real estate agent, I work with many buyers who are looking for a luxury home. These are some of the tactics that I have found work best with having a successful home search:

Find a well-connected REALTOR. Some (not all) luxury properties go unlisted in the MLS in order to protect the privacy of the high-end seller. Others will be listed online, but only in very specific MLS sites or searches. The right luxury real estate agent in Washington DC’s Metro Area will be well-connected enough to assist you and find properties that fit your criteria, even if they aren’t listed on some of the more common sites like Trulia or Zillow.

See every property in person. Many online photos of luxury listings don’t really do the place justice. They’re very hard to photograph in an appealing way due to their size or certain privacy issues. This is particularly true for exterior photos. In order to get a full appreciation of what a luxury property looks like, it’s best to visit it in person with your agent.

Work with a local real estate agent. If you’re going to buy a luxury home in the DC Metro Area, you’re going to want to work with a professional who is incredibly familiar with the area. A local agent will have far more access to some of the higher-end properties than someone from out of the area.

Trust smart, reliable advisers to help with your decision. Finding the right home is a large decision, so you’re going to want the right people helping you out. Ask your financial planner or accountant about what you can afford and trust your real estate agent’s advice. They’re working on your behalf, and they have a better understanding of the market than you do. Both parties should agree on what you should be doing in terms of a housing decision. That’s the best way to confidently make a choice about which home you should buy.

These are just a few of the many tidbits of advice that I give my luxury buyer clients. The better quality professional that they hire, the more success they will have navigating the complicated luxury real estate market in Montgomery County.

If you have any questions about buying or selling a home in Montgomery County, MD, don’t hesitate to contact me and ask! I’d be happy to help in any way I can. I hope to hear from you soon.
