The holidays are almost here! If you don’t feel quite ready for them, don’t worry! Take in some of the wonderful holiday events we have in the area, and a festive mood is sure to follow!
Bethesda’s Winter Wonderland takes place December 1st and 2nd! Enjoy concerts on Saturday, and professional ice sculpting on Sunday! Saturday’s concerts are at the Imagination Stage, 4908 Auburn Ave. Concert tickets are friendly to the wallet at $5 for kids and $10 for adults. Sunday’s events, which include student concerts and an appearance by Santa, are located at Veterans Park at the intersection of Woodmont and Norfolk Avenues.
Zoo Lights turns the National Zoo into an exotic wonderland of color and light, beginning November 23rd! Over 500,000 LED lights are used to create this seasonal spectacular. Enjoy holiday beverages and snacks available for purchase throughout the grounds. The light display runs from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on weekend evenings, then nightly starting December 14th. Visit the Zoo website for details. The Zoo is open normal daytime hours in addition to the holiday light display. Admission is free, but parking is $16 for non-members and $9 for members.
The Garden of Lights at Brookside Gardens uses over one million lights to transform the public garden into a dazzling feast for the eyes. Enjoy a display of G-scale miniature trains inside of the Conservatory, sip hot cocoa in the Visitor’s Center, and stroll through the gift shops to find the perfect presents. The light show opens Friday, November 23rd at 5:30 p.m. and runs nightly through January 6th. Visit their website and Facebook page for more details!
