B-CC Used Book Donations Begin

Preparations for Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School’s annual used book sale have begun. Volunteers from the PTSA began accepting used book donations on Saturday, January 5. Future donation dates will be February 2, March 2, March 3, March 9 and March 10, all from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The sale itself is scheduled for Saturday, March 16 and Sunday, March 17.

In the picture above, PTSA volunteers Teddy Springer (left) and Cynthia Chan are sorting through donated books in the B-CC High School basement. The PTSA uses funds from the book sale to pay for needs that arise at the school, such as the new marquee alongside East-West  Highway.

The book sale is a win-win-win-win for all parties concerned. Book donors get a tax deducation. Perhaps more important, they get a chance to de-clutter their shelves and coffee tables, making room for new books.  The school gets a source of funds to purchase equipment and other items not covered in the state and county budgets, Student volunteers get service hours they need to graduate. And book lovers get a chance to add to their collections at discount prices.
