To some residents of Chevy Chase, the first harbinger of Spring might be the news that pitchers and catchers have reported to the Washington Nationals training complex in Viera, Florida. Opening Day is less than seven weeks away.

For others, the first sign might be the afternoon sign hanging high enough in the sky to put a glow into the Stars and Stripes flying outside the door to the Chevy Chase Village Hall on Connecticut Avenue.
