For this week’s neighborhood spotlight, we’ve decided to look beyond Bethesda and focus on the Montgomery County city of Rockville. Located north of Bethesda and Potomac, Rockville is about thirteen miles north of Virginia and about twenty miles from the heart of Washington, DC. As far as transportation goes, I-270 cuts through the middle of the city and residents are close to Metro and Amtrak stations. 

What Can I Find Around the City of Rockville?

• Golfers certainly won’t be disappointed by the many choices that Rockville has to offer. Woodmont Country Club, Lakewood Country Club and Red Gate Golf Course are great areas to practice your game and work on your golfing technique.
• Rockville has many high-performing schools. Thomas Wootton and Richard Montgomery High schools have been recognized as two of the best high schools in the state.
• Rockville is home to many companies involved in the biotechnology and sciences industry. Supernus Pharmaceuticals, Otsuka Pharmaceuticals, Westat and BAE Systems are some of the city’s largest employers.
• Rockville Town Square has many shops and restaurants that include: Ten Thousand Villages, Verizon Store, CVS, Noodles and Company, Cosi, Mr. Smoothie and more. The Square also shows movies every Wednesday night during the summer.

What Community Events Are Happening in Rockville, MD?

The next big event happening in Rockville is the Independence Day celebration. The fun will take place at the Montgomery College Rockville Campus at 7:00 p.m. with live music, dance performances and fireworks.
