Friendship Archway, a traditional Chinese Gate was designed by architect, Alfred H. Liu, in 1986. It was erected to commemorate Washington’s friendship with Beijing. Today, it stands as a landmark welcoming visitors to DC’s Chinatown and it the largest archway in the world.
