The Annual Rock Creek Cleanup Was a Great Success!

I was so excited and honored to assist in cleaning up the Rock Creek Conservatory again this year.

More than 420 kids, students, and adults participated in the Rock Creek Conservancy events during this year’s MLK weekend of service, making this year the most successful yet!

Extreme Cleanup

Our hard work paid off, as we removed 125 bags of trash and 68 bags of recycling from Rock Creek! 656 trees were saved from English Ivy, and hundreds of pounds of other invasive plants, including bush honeysuckle, multiflora rose, and wineberry, were cleared from the park.

Rock Creek Conservancy

It was such an honor to participate in this important event and to help save the beautiful parks that provide trails, nature, and wildlife to the residents of Chevy Chase.

A big thank you to the amazing people at the Rock Creek Conservancy who tirelessly work to protect the lands and waters of Rock Creek and revitalize Rock Creek Park for people to treasure and enjoy. This area is being made increasingly better through all the hard word of the volunteers, partner agencies and staff who contribute so much of their time and efforts.

Get Involved

RockCommunity involvement and the parks themselves are some of my favorite things about Chevy Chase.

I urge everyone in the area to get involved with this important group.

You don’t have to wait until next year’s event, view the Rock Creek Conservancy’s calendar to learn about upcoming volunteer events.

You can also become a member or give a donation.

I cannot stress enough the importance of this group and keeping our parks beautiful and clean.

What’s your favorite thing about this park?
