Three Years Ago in Chevy Chase: Snowmaggedon

DSC_2851-1 [1600x1200] If you’re impatient for the arrival of spring in Chevy Chase, here’s a reminder that the weather could be much worse.

Exactly three years ago, Chevy Chase was struggling to dig out from the monumental February blizzard known as Snowmaggedon. It was a nor’easter that swept through the Middle Atlantic states during the first week of February, dropping two and sometimes three feet of snow. Schools were closed for a week. Pictured above is a house on East Melrose Street in Chevy Chase Village. Below, a youngster tries to stay on top of snow mounds as high as his waist.

It was very similar to the storm that hit New England last week, mercifully bypassing Chevy Chase.
